If you’re working for yourself, chances are you have more questions than answers right now.
The CARES Act technically covers those that are self-employed, including independent contractors, gig workers, sole proprietorships, LLCs, and other business entity types where its owners aren’t necessarily on payroll.
But that doesn’t mean any of the programs are ready to accept applications from any of those business owners/workers.
The PPP isn’t even ready to accept structured business applications, and most states have yet to implement an unemployment application for those covered under the PUA (pandemic unemployment assistance) section of the #CARESACT. In all, it’s a MESS, and likely will take longer than anybody can afford to smoothly process/fund any loans.
So where does this leave you? Well, you can do one of two things: stick your head in the sand and hope it goes away, or TAKE ACTION.
First thing’s first. Start looking at long-term strategy planning for your business.
Yes, that even means evaluating BANKRUPTCY as an option. 🙈
No, not as your first option. Not even as your second. But there are things you need to know before charging ahead. Things you can do to help yourself, rather than waiting around for a check that may take longer than you or your business actually have.
